Abstract

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a therapy that uses 100% oxygen concentration. This is closely related to hyperoxygenation. Hyperbaric therapy is becoming second-line therapy for diseases related to cell recovery. In the medicine, MMP-9 is thought to increase the incidence of cancer metastasis. This is usually a contraindication to present HBO therapy and based on the results of our study, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can reduce the expression of MMP-9 when combined with primary therapy (radiotherapy). Besides that, HBOT can also increase the effectiveness of radiotherapy and HBOT can build up to MMP-9 levels.
